What you missed...

Friday 9th March - An Evening with Acoustic Moods
I was planning a trip to England and found Acoustic Moods had set a concert date for when I would be there. I knew this was my first oppurtunity to actually hear one of my favorite bands live in concert, an oppurtunity I surely did not want to miss. The setting was in the Urmston Cricket Club, a roomy but cozy place. The band was tuning guitars, and settling into getting ready to play... Read the full review

12th December - Musik and Musing at Christmas Tyme

Described as Musik and Musings at Christmas Tyme the lucky audience were witness to a true folk music legend, Ashley Hutchings, late of Steeleye Span, Fairport Convention and still playing in the Albion Band, on his 4-string acoustic bass, along with Steve Marsh on classical guitar, and soprano Judy Dunlop in some marvellously evocative christmas-flavoured goodies... 19th September
September 19th 2006, Hurrah the workshop happened! Ged and Chas doled out useful practice tips and advice and Ged gave a brief demo of how to play lap steel. This will be a definite feature of future MAGs meetings.

The open mic started with Chris doing some arrangements of his, followed by newcomer Colin with a spirited performance of some original songs (definitely a guy to watch) and Andy McKenzie trying out his new toy (a Roland Loop Station) to great effect. The evening ended with the usual jam this time with Andy, Chas, Chris and Ged, totally unplugged (only two guitar amps this month!) with about as eclectic a collection of tunes as you could wish for. Can't wait for next month!
